W.9. Jason Ward and Sheri Hanson: PLEIN- AIR PAINTING IN OIL AND ACRYLICS (intermediate to advanced)
All media welcome, some experience with your chosen medium required.
Outdoor Landscape and Flower Painting on Location: This class takes us outdoors to a local historic estate where we respond directly to what the landscape has to offer.
We’ll focus on understanding the effects of atmospheric perspective to create a convincing sense of depth, as well as to manage the endless variety and complexity of the details that surround us in the natural world. We will focus on working strategies for rendering specific features of the scene, mixing color, capturing the light, painting architectural elements of the garden, and of course, approaches for painting flowers and foliage. We end each class with a brief critique.
(Note: This workshop begins at the YAA studio and proceeds then to the chosen site-which has a wide variety of settings of interest to plein-air artists, d all necessary facilities. Please bring a bag lunch.)
