W4 Fall ADVENTURES IN COLLAGRAPHIC and MONOPRINT MAKING (All levels)
Instructor: Phyllis Disher Fredericks
Learn two basic printmaking techniques in one workshop. Collagraphic printmaking is the process of
printing from a collage type plate. Using various materials, we will design and construct one or more
printing plates. We will learn how to print single and multi-colored prints and experiment with a number of
printing papers. Monoprint printmaking is the process of painting on a smooth surface and then
transferring a print of the painting to paper. We will experiment with additive and subtractive printing
techniques and learn how to create various textures on the plate for printing. A printing press is not
required for either process and we will be using water based inks so that the
information learned in this course can be used in any setting.
There is a $25 supply fee payable to the instructor for inks, printing plates, and printing paper. Sign up early as
this workshop will fill quickly and is limited to 12 students.
